Head of Policy for Open Banking in UK
Alan Ainsworth is Head of Policy for Open Banking in UK and a member of its leadership team, responsible for its forward-looking agenda, Government Relations and regulatory affairs. Open Banking is developing a full suite of standards that will enable people and businesses to safely and securely access their data and make payments using innovative FinTech apps. Alan has extensive experience in payments and retail banking policy, in global bank Barclays and global payments business Paysafe. He was a founder member of the European Payments Council’s Cards Working Group and is Vice-Chair of the UK Cards Association’s Management Committee. He has a wealth of experience dealing with retail payments, both commercially and from a policy perspective, and was involved in the debates that led to the original Payment Services Directive.
