Pedro is an economist and join the Bank of Spain (Spanish Central Bank and prudential supervisor) in 1992 in the Supervision Directorate. He was working as Banking examiner in prudential supervision for 17 years, and at the same time he was teaching accounting in Carlos III University in Madrid for 7 years. After that, in 2009, he moved to the Spanish FIU and his job there was to conduct inspections to obliged entities under the Spanish AML&CFT Law, mainly banks and other financial institutions but also non-financial firms as real estate companies, jewellery firms, auction companies, or Casinos. Further he joined the European Commission in January 2018 as Seconded National Expert in DG Justice, in the Financial Crime Unit, and one of his duties there is to conduct the Supra National Risk Assessment for 2019.
